A pair of Italian ebonised, gilt and polychrome-decorated Blackamoor torcheres, probably Venice, 19th century

CONDITION REPORT :
- Good overall condition despite the inevitable wears, losses and marks in accordance with age and use.
- Traces of woodworms in places on both torcheres.
- Both porte-torcheres have been relacquered.
Male figure :
- Some shrinkage cracks and traces of restorations in places (part of the face, the area around the neck, the right hand side arm and the rear area of the vest).
- Splits and losses to the basis.
Female figure :
- Shrinkage cracks around the face and around the rear area of the hat.
- Some vertical splits to the rear area of the figure.
Basis :
- Some losses to the painted areas of the basis in places, revealing the gesso underneath.
Glass shades :
- Accidents and losses to the two engraved glass-shades.
- Both porte-torcheres are electrified.
