The 360 Modena, unveiled at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show, was the successor to the 355, adopting the same formula as the saloon car with a V8 engine in a central rear position. It was the 1st Ferrari built with an aluminium chassis and body. The engine from the 355, with twin camshafts and aluminium cylinder heads, was optimised to produce 400 bhp. These technical advances are complemented by a much-improved finish.
Its warranty booklet states that this 360 Spider was delivered new in May 2001 to a German company by the Autohaus Sprau dealership in Saarbrücken, not far from the French border. It changed hands in 2004 before joining the collection of its 3rd owner in 2007, an Italian who had moved to Belgium.
Considering its ancestry, owning this 360 Spider had been a lifelong dream for him. A lover of mechanics, he performed the maintenance on the Italian beauty himself. It was not until August 2023 that he passed the torch to his son.
This Spider impresses with its rare Novitec front bumper and its captivating Capristo exhaust system that gives the Ferrari V8 its voice. According to the vendor, 90% of the paintwork is original, reflecting the care taken by its previous owners. The passenger compartment is very well preserved: the black leathers are beautiful and the plastics are not sticky! The gear lever sits proudly in the centre of the cockpit, overlooking the legendary H-shaped grille with its addictive click. The odometer reads 54,600 km.
The 360 was the last Ferrari with a 5-valve engine, and this example, fitted with the rare manual gearbox, marks the end of a legendary era for the prancing horse.
