The Marie-Puck Broodthaers Collection offered for Sale

On 25th May, Artcurial’s Books & Manuscripts department, in collaboration with booksellers and experts Benoît Forgeot and Philippe Luiggi, will present a part of the collection of Marie-Puck Broodthaers. Daughter of Belgian artist Marcel Broodthaers (1924-1976), gallery owner and collector, she offers for sale a set of more than 230 lots, divided into two chapters.

We are pleased to present a preview in Brussels during the Art Brussels fair, a selection of the flagship lots from our upcoming prestigious sales of Modern, Post-War & Contemporary Art and Contemporary African Art in Paris. Among them is a beautiful gouache by Magritte, The Taste of Tears, 1946, estimated at €800,000 / €1,200,000, a Paul Delvaux, Sunday Dress, 1967, estimated at €100,000 / €150,000, as well as works by Soulages, Klein, Broodthaers, and ceramics by Picasso.

Tintin in America breaks a new record!

On Friday 10th February, Artcurial auctioned Hergé’s original drawing for the 1942 cover of the album Tintin in America. This cover was used in 1946 for the first colour edition of the album. After a bidding battle, it was sold for €2,1M, a new world record for an original black and white drawing by Hergé.

On November 9, 2022, Artcurial had the honor of dispersing in Paris a major group of paintings by Flemish and Dutch masters of the 16th and 17th centuries from the prestigious collection Baron & Baroness Vaxelaire, a family tribute. With a world record for the series of 10 tondi by Abel Grimmer (1575-1619) which reached the sum of €1,538,000 (fees included).
