On February 18th 2008, the Artcurial | Briest - Poulain - F. Tajan auction house was proud to launch, on the French market, the very first sale entirely dedicated to urban art (graffiti and post-graffiti).
Seventy paintings and objects were thus offered to the numerous collectors, mobilized by the media campaign triggered by this event. With a result of €461,000 (US$728,380), the sale set several records: €29,700 (US$46,926) for Futura 2000, €43,400 (US$68,572) for John Crash Matos, or €18,600 (US$29,388) for Blek le Rat…
- Jef Aérosol
- Sittin’ Kid, 2006
- 100 x 100 cm
- Estimation: €3,500 - 4,000
These very positive results mark the consecration of a certain creation which had, until now, been somewhat cast aside. Results that clearly illustrate the true interest this art arouses. Encouraged by this success, the French auction house is currently preparing a new session, due on October 28th and that will see the works exhibited during the FIAC art fair.
Several important European and American collections are already announced with works by Futura 2000, John Crash Matos, Daze, Toxic, Rammelzee, Dondi White…
Pursuing on its February impulse, Artcurial | Briest - Poulain - F. Tajan will also dedicate a whole chapter to the historical works of Jonone. The stencil scene will be represented through the works of Nick Walker, Blek le Rat,
Jef Aérosol, Miss Tic…
And last but not least, the young French creation will not be left out from this urban landscape bearing international accents. In fact, its most notorious representatives on the Parisian exhibition scene will be present. L’Atlas, Yaze, Alexöne, Babou, Nasty, Misterchat . Vuille, Space Invader… will take over the walls of the Hôtel Dassault for the second time this year. It is a pretty safe bet that Street Art unconditionals will gladly, once again, witness a new success for Graffiti Art.
